The Double Avis System

Comments With Dr. James Haney

The Internet Interactive Audio-Video Information System, with specialization on the African American  experience in America or IIAVIS (pronounced: double Avis), contain three components, each can work independent of the other, but  working in unison, will deliver significant information on the African American experience in the New World.

These elements are:

I. The Internet site: http://www.drjameshaney.com
The site is designed to encourage the use of the  computer  in the school system; and provide information through a discussion format between Dr. James Haney and his guest(s) on the popular
television show, Comments With Dr. James Haney, that is seen on WZTV, Channel 17 (Fox), WNAB, Channel 58 (WB),
and WUXP, Channel 30 (UPN), in the Nashville, Tennessee market.

II. The audio and video tapes are designed to cover the period from the beginning of the American historical experience to the present.  Currently, there are more than 500 audio and video tapes in the program. They include, for example, such early discussions of Historical Black Colleges with Dr. Henry Ponder, past Presidents of Fisk University in Nashville Tennessee, and the National  Association for Equal Opportunities for Blacks in Higher Education, in Washington, D.C, in 1991; to more recent discussions such as Historical Black Colleges @ the 21st Century (2003), and Brown vs Board of Education and Historical Black Colleges (2004) with Dr. Amiri Al-Hadid, Chairman of the Africana Studies Department at Tennessee State University, Nashville, Tennessee. This media are also designed to take advantage of the increasingly useful technology of delivering information by way of audio and video tape, CD, and DVD players. Each show is approximately 28 minutes with a common format that includes: (1) Background and Education of the guest (s), (2) Discussion of the Title or Topic, and(3) Related issues. The shows are designed to be informative rather than controversial.

III. The video tapes are  also 28 minutes commercial free repeats of the original television shows.  They cover the period from the very beginning of the shows in 1984 to 2004,  and are organized on the Internet Site.  There are many video titles available.

IV.  Taken together the II AVIS SYSTEM  represents a cutting edge, inexpensive, method of delivering significant information about the local, state, and national experiences of Americans
