The site is designed to encourage the use of the computer in the
school system; and provide information through a discussion format between Dr.
James Haney and his guest(s) on the popular
television show, Comments With Dr. James Haney, that is seen on WZTV, Channel
17 (Fox), WNAB, Channel 58 (WB),
and WUXP, Channel 30 (UPN), in the Nashville, Tennessee market.
II. The audio and video tapes are designed to cover the period from the beginning
of the American historical experience to the present. Currently, there
are more than 500 audio and video tapes in the program. They include, for example,
such early discussions of Historical Black Colleges with Dr. Henry Ponder, past
Presidents of Fisk University in Nashville Tennessee, and the National
Association for Equal Opportunities for Blacks in Higher Education, in Washington,
D.C, in 1991; to more recent discussions such as Historical Black Colleges @
the 21st Century (2003), and Brown vs Board of Education and Historical Black
Colleges (2004) with Dr. Amiri Al-Hadid, Chairman of the Africana Studies Department
at Tennessee State University, Nashville, Tennessee. This media are also designed
to take advantage of the increasingly useful technology of delivering information
by way of audio and video tape, CD, and DVD players. Each show is approximately
28 minutes with a common format that includes: (1) Background and Education
of the guest (s), (2) Discussion of the Title or Topic, and(3) Related issues.
The shows are designed to be informative rather than controversial.
III. The video tapes are also 28 minutes commercial free repeats of the
original television shows. They cover the period from the very beginning
of the shows in 1984 to 2004, and are organized on the Internet Site.
There are many video titles available.
IV. Taken together the II AVIS SYSTEM represents a cutting edge,
inexpensive, method of delivering significant information about the local, state,
and national experiences of Americans
